OAB DAY- Blood Donar's Day
Donald Trump, Jessy Nelson, Karl Landsteiner were born on 14th June but why is their birthday considered the Blood Donar's Day?? It is because he was the first to group blood.
This Donar's day is to mark his 148th birthday and many other's donations. One such is James Harrison, a 77 year old blood donator who has made more than 1000 donations. His donations aren't important but are very precious. His donations have not only saved adults met with accidents or any sort of stuff but also has saved many unborn babies.
Here is how it is-
James when 14 had to undergo a blood transfusion action. Even since, he hated needles yet he every two weeks he gives his right arm with clenched fingers. James blood has a particular use, it helps women give birth to babies and have them. according to biomedical company James blood contains Anti-D plasma and that has helped around 2.2 million babies since the 70's.
Basically this anti-D plasma is given to mothers with Rh negative blood types who are carrying Rh positive babies. But the first baby won't be affected but in the second time there are chances of babies's positive cells leaking into the placenta of the mother and then the mother will end up making antibodies and the positive cells are attacked. This can lead to complications like Anaemia, Brain damage or even death. This condition is known as HDN or Hemolytic Disease is thus prevented by anti-D plasma.
James is thus considered the goldmine of anti-D plasma and he never misses a single donation.
